Here is an actual statement on the website of someone who advertises here, "Stop overpaying those guys with 20 years experience, its 2010 what they learned in 1980 doesn't even apply with today's technology...".

Are they serious???  Do they actually think we know nothing except what went on with computers 20 years ago? Are they that dumb? 

When you do computer service 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, you do tend to keep up with the technology.

GEEZ!

When you go cheap, you get cheap! You should be asking some serious questions about those who would charge less than half of what others would. First of all, do yourself a favor, download the free junk they use and run it yourself. If you are savvy enough to make it to this Craigslist post you are capable of clicking a few "Next" buttons. Free junk that will "clean" your computer:

• HITMAN PRO 3.5 (http://files.surfright.nl) is a multitool program that automatically runs several programs to "clean" your system
• ADAWARE FREE (http://download.cnet.com) a single free program
• ESET NOD32 (http://www.eset.com) This is actually a trial download and the single best anti-anything out there and if this does not clean the offending malware/virus then you will definitely need a PRO.  If you hire someone that does not have this in his/her arsenal, you are dealing with a novice.

While there is one company in particular that is in the "BIG BOX" store that we all know of that charges a way beyond a reasonable price, you should expect to pay about $100 to get a qualified tech to clean your computer or make repairs.  I have been in the business for 15 years and can tell you that if you pay $30 for a system cleanup, you are not getting a tech, you are getting someone who spends a lot of time on a computer and knows a little more about computers than the average person but not a tech. We spend an average of 6 hours on a single computer when doing a system cleanup. That's doing an expert and complete job by a certified tech. Now ask yourself how could anyone do that for $25 or $30??? FINAL THOUGHT:  This economy is producing more and more "Techs" that are not Techs at all.  It reminds me a lot of the early 80's when if you lost your job you ran up to the local copy place and printed off a hundred fliers or so and became a "Painter".  Anyone with a brush was suddenly in the business.  Truth is, now (just like then) saying something a bunch of times doesn't make it so and in the end you get what you pay for.
