1) Ask to see a full wedding from start to finish. Are the pictures well exposed, sharp, and well composed throughout the whole wedding? Especially the low lit reception?
Many photographers just show you "the greatest hits" on their portfolio's which is fine but make sure you see how they handle a full wedding.
2) How many weddings has the photographer done? Do they have any reviews from previous clients?
Taking good portraits doesn't mean that a photographer can shoot a wedding. Weddings are much faster paced. Some special moments cannot be repeated.
The photographer tends to run most of the wedding day. They set the pace. If they don't know what they are doing you are likely to experience an 8 hour
portrait session and not your wedding.
3) Does the photographer have insurance? What happens if something goes wrong?
What happens if the memory card goes bad or the photographer's equipment breaks down?
4) Is there a second shooter? What happens if the photographer gets sick?
With the swine flu anything can happen. What is the backup plan in the event of a last minute emergency? Will they get someone of at least equal caliber?
5) Is the photographer a member of any professional photography organizations like the PPA, or WPPI? If so ask to see the credentials.
Photographers that tend to be members of those professional organizations invest more into their business.
6) Look at the photographers website. Is it professional? Is it easy to navigate? Do they have a blog?
Photographers that invest in quality website services are more likely to invest in themselves, their business, and their work.
7) Does the photographer have multiple camera bodies, multiple lenses, multiple flashes, multiple memory cards?
Ask the photography what apertures do his lenses have. You want to know that his/her lenses are of the highest quality.
You are looking for lenses that have a 2.8 or 2.0 or 1.8 or 1.4 or 1.0. If they have a lot of lenses with numbers higher
then 2.8 (like 5.6) then it will be much harder to take pictures in the low light that is typical of most receptions. If the photographer
shoots with a Canon ask if they have L series lenses. They will have a red line around the lens. It's ok to ask the photographer
to see his/her equipment they will be shooting with. The photographer should have more than 1 camera body. If something
happens you want to make sure they have a backup. They should also have more than 1 flash. Just because a photographer
has all the right equipment doesn't mean they are good. Go back and look at their wedding albums and weddings.
8) Does the photographer have a studio? It's not necessary but it's nice if you need to somewhere to go back to.
9) Price is not always indicative of quality but generally you get what you pay for. A photographer charging less than $1,000
for a wedding is not likely to have insurance, have high quality camera gear (good lenses start at $1,000+ and camera bodies at $2,000+),
is not likely to spend extra money on backup equipment, backup drives, professional networking organizations. All photographers have
to start somewhere which is why you can find plenty charging less then $1,000 but then again do you really want them starting on your wedding?
Good wedding photographers tend to start around $1,500 and can go as high as $8,000.
Why so much?
A good wedding photographer will need around $15,000-$20,000 worth of high quality camera equipment. Most of which has a limited life span
and needs to be replaced every couple of years. The wedding photographers work isn't just done at the wedding. An 8 hour wedding will require
40-50 hours of post production work for the photographer to add his or her special touch to the images and edit out the unusable ones. The photographer
will have to pay insurance, taxes, professional association dues, software licenses, and other typical overhead expenses. This doesn't count marketing
material or sample albums. On top of all that you are paying a premium for the art. Generally the higher the rate the more specialized and difficult it
is to create the art. Remember at the end of the day all you have left are the pictures and the memories. A good wedding photography can make a budget
wedding look amazing. A bad photographer can make a exquisite wedding look crappy.
10) Ask to see examples of their wedding albums. It gives you a good idea of the photographers style and how they shoot the day. The wedding album
should tell the story of the wedding day and have pictures that match up.
11) Don't always trust vendor referrals blindly. Just because a venue, dj, or other wedding vendor recommends a photographer doesn't mean he/she is good.
Best piece of advice is always "trust but verify."

The perfect solution to dress any window! Nowadays it seems that simple horizontal blinds are the choice of the masses. I guess that's because they don't know me. I can make the perfect window treatment to fit any size window in any style - panel, valance, roman shade, and more!
Bedding: Now, to match those pillows and window treatments with your bed! I can take any or all of your existing colors and tie them together with a gorgeous bed covering of any type - coverlet, bed spread, duvet cover, and even throw blankets!
