there is no budget for this - it is for art's sake it's being recorded. there is no promise of revenue from this, and details for future projects would be discussed (those could have a budget)
If you haven't mailed your band registrations yet, get them in B4 limited band slots are taken.
It's too early in the game (since the roster isn't full yet) for time slotting, but if you put on your application any special needs such as:
Can't play before 3pm... or... cannot play after 7pm... or... whatever your need may be... we will make every effort to accomodate your needs. Assuming the band roster is full (it will be soon based on initial interest and apps already sent out) Every band will get a 20 minute set minimum (maybe 30 minutes). For most traditional song lengths, this is 4-5 songs, maybe 6 songs if you write 3-3.5 minute songs.
All bands will know the order of their play slot in advance of the day of the event. The ordering will not occur until all Apps are in and all special needs requests on Apps have been considered.

Why the name; "The Battle for America - 2010"?
A Nationwide Battle of the bands event
This is an ORIGINAL MUSIC competition.
MAJOR DIFFERENCES of this Competition vs. Others:
1) You are NOT required to sell tickets to secure your playing slot. No “Pay for Play”!
2) There is NO WINNER by APPLAUSE by the most fans present. By all means, bring your fans, but this is a talent competition, not a rowdy loud cheering fan competition.
3) REAL Judges will be presiding over the competition. Judges are usually supplied by our sponsors. All judges operate under the exact same scoring rules provided to them for each band. Judges score you, hand it in to event officials, then move to the next band. This means you only need to be good at what you do, when you do it. Playing last is not a BIG advantage.
4) All bands know the exact criteria the judges use to score the competition before they arrive at the competition.
5) Judges watch band interaction with the crowd & crowd response, but the loudest applause by the most fans present is not what wins this competition.
6) In the last competition, the TOP 3 Winning places got LIVE INTERVIEWS on a Houston Radio Station and got to play live on the air or have CD Tracks played during the Live Interview.
7) No Quarter finals & Semi final rounds. Generally this is a one day event. All awards & prizes are announced and awarded the same day, at the end of the competition. This competition is a National Battle of the Bands Event. Each state carries it’s own regional events, such as: “The Battle for Kansas – Wichita Regional’s”. Winners of each regional competition receive prize awards for their local competition. All band scores are registered at the national level for the overall Top 3 Winners. The three highest scores win National awards automatically. Yes, you can win twice.
Who may Compete? Is there a registration fee?
Solo/Duo/Trio Acts to Full Bands may enter. All genres are highly encouraged! No age limitations for bands (Venue may impose age limit to enter facility).
Yes, the band registration fee is the same as the last event: $40.00. This is all that's required to enter other than the rules stated above.
This competition is intended for singer songwriters to full bands. Just because you may wish to perform as a solo acoustic act, you are in no way at a disadvantage to a band.
All JUDGES function under the same criteria and you are judged on the quality of your performance.
In the 2007 Houston Regional event the winner was a 16 year old female singer songwriter by the name of Breanna Fye (Now at the University of Texas). Breanna & her piano beat out all the bands in the competition. What a vocalist she was! And she wasn’t from Texas… Go figger! J

Each week's winner will advance to the Finals as well as win a $20 Gift Card for All Natural Signs for use on banner or sign purchases.

This is an anything goes music competition for a good cause and a lot of fun along the way. Beginners up to Professionals.
During the breaks musicans are welcome to come up on stage for jam session as well as after the competition while the judges deliberate.
**There is no cover charge or entrance fee. We only ask that all involved in the event be it spectator or performer bring in food or clothing items that will be donated to God's Helping Hands in Cayce, SC to distribute to local families in need during these hard economic times.
Finals are currently scheduled for January
Each week's winner will advance to the Finals as well as win a $20 Gift Card for All Natural Signs for use on banner or sign purchases.

It's too early in the game (since the roster isn't full yet) for time slotting, but if you put on your application any special needs such as:
Can't play before 3pm... or... cannot play after 7pm... or... whatever your need may be... we will make every effort to accomodate your needs. Assuming the band roster is full (it will be soon based on initial interest and apps already sent out) Every band will get a 20 minute set minimum (maybe 30 minutes). For most traditional song lengths, this is 4-5 songs, maybe 6 songs if you write 3-3.5 minute songs.
All bands will know the order of their play slot in advance of the day of the event. The ordering will not occur until all Apps are in and all special needs requests on Apps have been considered.

Why the name; "The Battle for America - 2010"?
A Nationwide Battle of the bands event
This is an ORIGINAL MUSIC competition.
MAJOR DIFFERENCES of this Competition vs. Others:
1) You are NOT required to sell tickets to secure your playing slot. No “Pay for Play”!
2) There is NO WINNER by APPLAUSE by the most fans present. By all means, bring your fans, but this is a talent competition, not a rowdy loud cheering fan competition.
3) REAL Judges will be presiding over the competition. Judges are usually supplied by our sponsors. All judges operate under the exact same scoring rules provided to them for each band. Judges score you, hand it in to event officials, then move to the next band. This means you only need to be good at what you do, when you do it. Playing last is not a BIG advantage.
4) All bands know the exact criteria the judges use to score the competition before they arrive at the competition.
5) Judges watch band interaction with the crowd & crowd response, but the loudest applause by the most fans present is not what wins this competition.
6) In the last competition, the TOP 3 Winning places got LIVE INTERVIEWS on a Houston Radio Station and got to play live on the air or have CD Tracks played during the Live Interview.
7) No Quarter finals & Semi final rounds. Generally this is a one day event. All awards & prizes are announced and awarded the same day, at the end of the competition. This competition is a National Battle of the Bands Event. Each state carries it’s own regional events, such as: “The Battle for Kansas – Wichita Regional’s”. Winners of each regional competition receive prize awards for their local competition. All band scores are registered at the national level for the overall Top 3 Winners. The three highest scores win National awards automatically. Yes, you can win twice.
Who may Compete? Is there a registration fee?
Solo/Duo/Trio Acts to Full Bands may enter. All genres are highly encouraged! No age limitations for bands (Venue may impose age limit to enter facility).
Yes, the band registration fee is the same as the last event: $40.00. This is all that's required to enter other than the rules stated above.
This competition is intended for singer songwriters to full bands. Just because you may wish to perform as a solo acoustic act, you are in no way at a disadvantage to a band.
All JUDGES function under the same criteria and you are judged on the quality of your performance.
In the 2007 Houston Regional event the winner was a 16 year old female singer songwriter by the name of Breanna Fye (Now at the University of Texas). Breanna & her piano beat out all the bands in the competition. What a vocalist she was! And she wasn’t from Texas… Go figger! J
