DB2 for z/OS Migration including SAP Guru (Columbia)
Statement of Work for Assistance with DB2 for z/OS Migration including SAP
Requirements
Need an experienced DB2 systems DBA that can perform the following work very quickly before a deadline of June 30th :
Will assist DB2 DBA staff as needed in project planning, consulting, and migration support for a migration of the State of South Carolina DB2 for z/OS Version 7 environment to DB2 for z/OS Version 8.
There are six non-SAP subsystems remaining that need to be migrated to Compatibility Mode. Three of the subsystems support CICS, batch, and Java/Websphere applications and three support a three-tier distributed client/server application running on Windows Citrix servers connecting via DB2 Connect.
There are three SAP subsystems that need to be migrated to Version 8 New Function Mode. The SAP application is at version 4.6C and runs on AIX servers connecting to DB2 for z/OS via the ICLI interface. The latest Consolidated Service Test Level and Version 7 fallback maintenance still needs to be applied to the SAP subsystems and assistance is also needed to determine and make any changes required to the SAP application and/or server environment to support DB2 Version 8.
The three SAP subsystems and the three subsystems that support the distributed applications are running on a separate LPAR under the z/OS.e (soon to be NALC) version of the operating system.
Work will also include preparation for the possibility of SQL access path degradation involving both static and dynamic SQL. Most of the dynamic SQL is issued by the large OLTP three-tier distributed application written in Borland's DELPHI running on Windows Citrix servers that accesses DB2 for z/OS via DB2 Connect ODBC. Parts of this application have also been written in C# using the .NET development framework.
We also need assistance in making sure the DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition Version 8 and Version 9 environments are optimally configured for the current DB2 for z/OS Version 7 subsystems and document any configuration changes needed when the z/OS subsystems migrate to Version 8, examining all the APARs in all the FIXPAKs for Versions 8 and 9 to check for any needed additional actions relating to fixes. This is to include any changes needed on the DB2 Connect clients.
We also need help in testing Java applications accessing DB2 from WEBSPHERE using JDBC drivers that are different from the ones provided by IBM DB2.
Will also assist in the correct setup for DB2-related OMVS Unix System Services HFS files and OMVS configuration parameters for running multiple subsystems, some at Version 8 and some at Version 7.
Current Project Status:
1. All hardware and software prerequisites, specified in the program directory included in the IBM DB2 for z/OS software package, have been met.
2. All Independent Software upgrades have been completed (i.e. CA-Insight, CDB utilities, HMNA EZ-DB2, Responsive Systems Buffer Pool Tool).
3. There are no CCSID issues on any DB2 Version 7 systems.
4. DB2 maintenance has been brought up to the latest Consolidated Service Test Level for the eight non-SAP subsystems. DB2 for z/OS Version 7 fallback maintenance has been applied to the eight non-SAP subsystems.
5. The Version 8 SMP/E work, including Hold Data review, has been completed.
6. The first sandbox system had been successfully migrated to Version 8 compatibility mode and work is underway for the z/OS.e sandbox system.
