Job Summary
The Driver Helper works alongside a Route Driver to assist in the collection of waste and/or recyclable materials. This role requires physical stamina, adherence to safety regulations, and flexibility in workload. Work hours may vary weekly based on route volume. When routes are slow or unavailable, helpers will assist with yard cleanup and other duties to remain fully utilized.
Schedule & Hours
Week A: 40–50 hours
Week B: 30–32 hours
(Hours may fluctuate depending on route demand.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Route Driver with waste and/or recycling collection
Ride on the truck and safely load/unload materials
Lift, carry, and move items weighing over 50 lbs
Comply with OSHA regulations and all local, state, and federal laws
Assist with yard cleanup and related tasks when no route is assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Must be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
Must be able to hold on to the truck while in motion
Must be reliable and safety-focused
Ability to work long shifts outdoors
Dress Code & PPE
Required:
Laced, steel-toed 6-inch boots
Allowed Clothing:
Short sleeve or long sleeve shirts
Shorts, work pants, or jeans (no rips or tears)
