I began playing drums at the age of 9 starting with classic rock and developing my own style inspired by some of my favorite bands. In middle and high school, I participated in Concert band, earning first chair in percussion each year. I assisted the school's orchestra programs several times. I decided to branch out and learn more genres and styles of music familiarizing myself with several different genres including Jazz, Reggae, Blues, Pop and Country before deciding to specialize in my favorite genres, Metal, Punk, and Rock. I have a wide variety of styles and skills across the board. Though I initially learned through private lessons, my technique and knowledge is mostly self taught, resulting in a unique style. Today, I am also the drummer for NeverFall, a band based out of Greenville, SC. I encourage creativity and finding your style, believing in no right or wrong way to play and giving tips on how best to improve based on each student. I teach students of all ages and experience levels, and tailor lessons to each student based on strengths, weaknesses, genre, and many other things.
EDIT: I am now offering packages designed to help save students money, including Family Bundles, Group Lessons, and recommendations!
"I've been taking drum lessons with Ian for about a year and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. He consistently blows me away with well-thought out lesson plans and a patient, encouraging attitude. He's able to break down complex lessons in simple ways and is great at helping me work through challenging ideas. If you're looking for high quality music lessons at a fair price, I couldn't recommend Ian highly enough!"
